How Brokers for Charity works: When a business or consumer wants buy or sell a property in the US or Canada, they give Brokers for Charity their criteria and they are paired with a qualified broker. When their transaction closes, Brokers for Charity makes the donation to the nonprofit the client choses. The donation is 10% of the referred agent’s commission. For example, on a $400,000 transaction if the agent’s commission were 3%, or $12,000, Brokers for Charity would donate $1,200 to the chosen nonprofit.
As a business or consumer, if you could support your favorite cause when you bought or sold real estate and it wouldn’t cost you a dime, wouldn’t you?

Even though I come from a family of writers, I need to make it very clear that I did not receive that special “writer’s” gene! Let’s just say I really relate to Tony Hsieh’s words in his book Delivering Happiness, “I’m not a professional writer, and in many cases I purposely chose to do things that would probably make my high school English teachers cringe, such as ending a sentence with a preposition.” I’d like to say my grammatical error choices will be purposeful, but this is doubtful!
Brokers for Charity began because I was looking for more ways to give in my everyday life and also wanted to give that option to others. Similar to the experience of buying a new car, after we started the company I began seeing many companies giving back. I wasn’t sure if it was because I just bought that car or if there was truly a trend happening. It was a bit of both. I will share about our journey as well as some amazing companies and nonprofit organizations I’ve discovered and continue to find every day.
